Food insecurity affects many families in our community every day. Simple items like dried pasta and bottled water can make a big difference for those struggling to put meals on the table. To help meet this need, a Pasta and Water Drive will take place from April 9 to April 12. This event invites everyone to donate dried pasta and bottles of water to support local food bank charities and services.

Why Dried Pasta and Bottled Water Matter

Dried pasta is a staple food that stores well and provides essential carbohydrates. It is easy to prepare and can feed a family with minimal resources. Bottled water is equally important, especially for families who may not have reliable access to clean drinking water.

Food banks often face shortages of these basic items because they are in high demand and not always donated in sufficient quantities. By focusing on dried pasta and bottled water, this drive targets two critical needs that help families maintain nutrition and hydration.

When and Where to Donate

The collection will take place over four days, with specific times and locations to make donating convenient:

  • Thursday, April 9 and Friday, April 10

Drop off donations at Sacred Heart Cathedral School between 7:00 AM and 8:00 AM.during school drop off periods.

  • Saturday, April 11 and Sunday, April 12

Donations will be accepted at the Cathedral entrances before and after each mass.

Volunteers will be on hand to receive donations and provide information about the drive.

How to Prepare Your Donation

To make the donation process smooth and helpful for food banks, please follow these tips:

  • Choose dried pasta in sealed packages. Popular types include spaghetti, penne, fusilli, and macaroni.

  • Select bottled water in standard sizes, preferably 16.9 oz (500 ml) or 1-liter bottles.

  • Avoid opened or damaged packaging.

  • Consider donating in multiples to maximize impact.

Who Benefits from Your Donation

Local food bank charities and services rely on community support to provide for families in need. Your donations will help:

  • Families facing financial hardship

  • Seniors on fixed incomes

  • Individuals experiencing homelessness

  • Children who depend on school meal programs

By contributing dried pasta and bottled water, you help ensure these groups have access to nutritious food and clean water.
